The first instrument was the drum, and all cultures of the world express themselves through rhythm. It’s part of who we are as human beings, and a great way to feel alive. By drumming together, we listen, feel and work together to create music. With over fifteen years experience, Joselyn Wilkinson will lead your DrumCircle with basic drumming technique, African rhythms and improvisational creativity. In a fun, supportive environment, we will learn and play together!
RhythmSong!
Everyone has a voice, and everyone has the power to improvise and create with words and melody. You will be guided in a supportive environment as you create with other participants on a team. Through guided imagery, free form writing, rhythm work and creative sharing, you’ll be amazed at the original music you’ll create together, and at the power of your own voice!

Haize Hawke, singer, dancer and choreographer, is the founder of Kali Dance Company. She lends her voice to many musical projects and performs her unique blend of Indian, African and modern choreography around Southern California. Her one-woman performance piece, “Country Colored Girl” is currently in pre-production.
Joselyn Wilkinson, singer, songwriter, percussionist and theatre artist, is the founder of Calabash Productions and ADAAWE, 7 women of the drum and voice. She has written and released two full-length albums of original music and performed around the U.S. She has taught theatre, dance, music and percussion for over ten years and specializes in helping students realize their unique creative vision.

Joselyn and Wild Roots – Singer-songwriter’s uplifting jazz and R&B-infused acoustic pop. New album, “Chance For Rain”. Performs with an acoustic trio to a full 9-piece band with horn section and back-up signers.
Don Barrozo – Honey toned trumpeter performing original melodic compositions, jazz standards and instrumental improvisations with an excellent band. Album, “Blue Talk”.
Calabash Collective – Don, Joselyn and other excellent musicians provide exciting instrumental and vocal improvisations to complement the atmosphere of special events and art openings. Ranging from a duo of keyboard, percussion, horns and vocals to a full band including drumset, fretless bass and acoustic guitar, Calabash Collective music is adventurous, sweet, soothing and uplifting.
ADAAWE – Joselyn founded the “seven women of the drum and voice”, performs with them, and managed them for over ten years. She is co-producing their upcoming album, “Passage”. ADAAWE's legendary live performances are an inspiring fusion of African percussion, gospel harmony and high-energy funk.
